Life with a newborn can be very stressful and extremely exhausting. We all want to help our friends and family with whatever they need and we always try to get them gifts that they actually need and will use, rather than those gifts that are of no use at all.
We got some amazing gifts when our two were newborn and we also got some that weren’t quite as useful and that we then passed on to someone else instead.
Here are the best gifts that you can buy new parents:
Pamper Pack
After carrying a baby for 9 months and then going through labour, a new mum deserves a rest and a pamper and any new mum is going to be grateful for the gift of a pamper pack. Some skincare, face masks, foot scrub, bubble bath – just a few things that will make her feel oh so special and relaxed.
You can pick these types of gift up, ready made from different sellers such as this aromatherapy gift set, or you could put together your own little pack by picking up a few different bits and pieces at the shop. You could treat the new parents to a professional pamper in the comfort of their own home with a mobile spa treatment.
A Hamper
Hampers are a great gift option and there are some great baby hampers available on the market, packed full of all the things you could possibly need for a baby. If you want to get your friends or family a few things for the baby, then consider one of these – they will have plenty to choose from.
A Bouncer
I don’t know any family that hasn’t made use of a bouncer when they had a baby and there are many great models on the market. These are so handy to pop the baby in – they can bounce and keep themselves entertained and it gives your arms a rest for a while.

Nappies
Whether they are using disposable nappies or reusable ones, these will always be welcome. You can buy some wonderful designs when it comes to reusable ones and disposable ones can be picked up easily and cheaply. These will definitely be used so are a very handy gift!
Some Homemade Food Or A Takeaway
I know when my two were newborns, I did not have the energy to cook at all! I had some amazing friends drop round some homemade food and also had some lovely people buy us takeaways or send us gift cards for Just Eat. This was so lovely as it meant we didn’t have to worry about cooking but still got to eat delicious food.
A Personalised Blanket
Now this doesn’t need to be personalised but a lovely blanket for the newborn baby will always be a gift that goes down well. It is comfy, perfect for indoors and outdoors and can keep them warm when temperatures drop.
These are just a few suggestions of gifts to buy for new parents – some for the parents and some for the baby too. What gifts did you most appreciate when you were a new parent – and what gifts were a dud for you?

MY friend makes personalised crocheted blankets, that is such a lovely idea. Great post! Some lovely ideas for friends with parents to be.
I like the idea of a pamper pack so the mum has something to enjoy as well. When we’ve done friends baby showers we’ve always gone for something they want for the kid (better to be practical and buy something they need) and then something for the mum as well x
We bought so much stuff for our first then for our second we realised we didn’t need as much as it never got used. Our best gift was a pod for little J to sleep in, he absolutely loved it.
