To Kill a Mockingbird
As one of the most iconic and celebrated novels of the 20th century, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird has made literary history as well as being relentlessly studied in classrooms around the world. Over the years, it has enjoyed countless adaptations, but Aaron Sorkin’s award-winning and critically acclaimed production has been described as particularly groundbreaking. Exploring the usual themes of equality, justice and racial divides in 1930s America, Sorkin’s adaptation has been described as daring and subversive in his portrayal of Atticus Finch, the dignifed lawyer who defends Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman, as not completely flawless.
A modern and affectionate take on a timeless classic, To Kill A Mockingbird is showing at the Gielgud Theatre from the 21st May to the 5th September. Tickets are selling out extremely quickly so it is worth booking them in advance to avoid disappointment!
A gripping short story written by Agatha Christie in 1933, there is no doubt that Witness for the Prosecution remains one of her most beloved classics. Taking place at the London County Hall in a unique courtroom setting, Lucy Bailey’s Witness for the Prosecution is an original, immersive experience which has received an extremely positive reception. Whether you decide to sit in the Jury’s seats or be an observer in the audience, you can be at the centre of the action and discover if Leonard Vole really did murder the glamourous widow, Emily French.
Showing at the London County Hall until the 13th September 2020, Witness for the Prosecution is a must-see for any Agatha Christie fans!
The Woman in Black
Based on the spooky novel by Susan Hill, which has also been transformed into a smash-hit film starring Daniel Radcliffe, the Woman in Black stage production has been thrilling audiences since 1987. As one of the longest running shows on the West End, the Woman in Black is renowned for its intense, thrilling experience which makes audiences jump out of their skin. The Woman in Black follows the compelling tale of Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who must go to an old house in the marshes, and unwittingly discovers the terrifying character of the Woman in Black.
Having made its West End home at the Fortune Theatre, there are many regular showings of the Woman in Black and it can be enjoyed throughout the year.
I would love to see The Women in Black – I have to admit I’ve always been more a musical person than simply plays – but I’m always up for trying something new.
Oh I love Daniel Radcliffe, I didn’t know he did a movie The Woman In Black. My Mom is lifelong Agatha Christie fan, she’d enjoy that play.
The woman in black was the film my husband and I went to watch in the cinema on our first valentines day! Not very romantic but suited us perfectly! I have never read or seen To kill a mocking bird! Not quite sure how I have got to this age in life and never rear it, definitely on my to do list this year
I love going to the theatre. My daughter is actually going next week with her friend. Not to see any of these of course. But these look great I will have to have a look into going myself.
To be honest theater plays is not my thing but with theater based on classic novels that is another thing. These novels are definitely should be the best in the world.
