My Camping Memories

I was recently contacted by Halfords to share my thoughts or my memories on camping – they even sent me a copy of their fantastic camping guide with the best hotspots and touring essentials included. Now I haven’t been camping many times in my twenty or so years of life but the times I have, I really enjoyed myself and it is definitely something I would like to do with Jack when he is a bit older.

The camping trip that sticks out most in my mind is my trip to Cuffley Camp in year five of primary school. It was the first time I stayed away from my parents for more than a night and the great thing was I got to spend time with my friends too! I remember sitting round the campfire telling ghost stories, heading out in the pitch black with my torch to go to the toilet (it was petrifying at ten years old!) and I remember waking up one night to find my friends sleeping bag empty – she’d gone for a sleep walk but luckily there was no way for her to get out of the campsite we were set up on, phew!

It was a scary experience at the time but I loved every second of it and I still look back on it with fond memories now – it was just an amazing experience to be a part of!

With Steve and I talking about holidays with Jack and thinking about some things to do over the summer holidays, I am definitely considering going camping if Steve agrees – I think it would be a fun experience for us all and something Jack would enjoy! The only problem is we don’t have any camping gear so this guide has been invaluable in telling us what we need, from the best tents to other camping essentials – and even telling us great places to camp from Wales to Norfolk, from Devon to Cornwall – all places we adore and where we would love to visit again soon.

I may not have been camping many times but I have many amazing memories and I would love to make some more whilst letting Jack create some of his own. Do you have any camping memories that stick out in your mind?
