We are always thinking about changing up our home, whether it be different home accessories or more dramatic changes. One such thing we are always considering is wooden flooring for the downstairs, in particular engineered oak flooring but we haven’t made any drastic changes yet. We’ve recently changed our living room around again – I’m on a big decluttering mission so getting rid of a lot of stuff and one such thing that went is our old sofa. We finally moved the new (to us) sofa in from the garage and put the old one in the garage until we can get to the tip.
Our fabric one worked well with our carpeted flooring but our leather one now looks a little out of place. Ripping up the carpet and putting down other flooring would be so much more attractive especially as the carpet is starting to show its age from wear and tear. We didn’t really think when moving in to this place four and a bit years ago about how the carpet would have been affected, especially with a baby and I really wish we’d either chosen a place without on the downstairs level or discussed with our letting agent at the time.
The majority of our friends and family have solid oak flooring and it is something that has appealed to us. If we ever get the go ahead, we’d definitely make the change in this house and we’d definitely be looking out for it in other houses too. For now we have to settle on making subtle changes around our home to bring it up to the standard we would like it. As I mentioned I am currently decluttering a lot of stuff but I am keen to make it as homely as possible without being cluttered.
How do you like to change up your home? Have you got any top tips for making some subtle changes?
