I don’t know about you but when Christmas rolls around, gadgets and jewellery tend to be the gifts of choice in our family. Whilst we are quite a techy family anyway, it got me to thinking – are you protecting your gadgets? Lots of people will have been gifted new Kindles, games consoles, maybe even smartphones or new TVs but hardly any think to protect them. Whether that is through contents insurance, single insurance for particular gadgets or even having a home security system just for your peace of mind – it baffles me the number of people that don’t think to protect their new items.
I’m quite clumsy and my phone screen is pretty smashed (but still usable!) at the moment. I definitely need to be more protective with the things that I own although I do have a high level of contents insurance cover with some things covered for outside of the home. Whilst I live in a fairly quiet village with little crime, you can never be too careful and I do live in a part of the village that can be quite prone to break ins.
Protecting your gadgets needn’t be a hardship. Fixing a home security system is a fairly easy process -and you can even choose bespoke packages. We also all know how easy the process to grab yourself some contents insurance is. Combining the two would mean maximum protection for the gadgets you have in home and I am certainly considering doing it for my own peace of mind. Whilst I work from home currently this is something that may be changing in the not too distant future and I want to make sure I am set up for any eventuality – I may be at home most of the day right now but that could change, I don’t want the protection of my gadgets to change though!
