That Was The Week That Was: A Week In Pictures

I have to apologise…I totally sucked at taking pictures this week! In fact, these are all from the wedding yesterday!
♥The beautiful couple, Jack & some gorgeous decorations♥
My week has been fairly boring, to be quite honest. I’ve spent the majority of my time indoors, playing with Jack, reading or blogging. I’ve been out a few times but nothing interesting at all – until yesterday that is! I took a trip over to Luton to see my beautiful niece getting married – it was a fantastic day and Jack got to meet some of the family that he hadn’t met until now! My other niece seemed to fall in love with him a little, perhaps I could be a great aunt very soon?? (Very strange saying that!)
I wish my niece all the best in her married life and I think yesterdays wedding more than makes up for having a less than exciting week! I’m sitting here writing this, listening to old 90’s and early 2000’s hits on Spotify…who remembers Dove (I’ll Be Loving You) by Moony? Some right old crackers here!
What have you been doing this week?

REVIEW: Vita-E Natural Vitamin E Cream

I was recently sent the Vita-E Natural Vitamin E Cream(*) to review. If you hadn’t guessed, Vita-E is a natural, fragrance free Vitamin E cream for use at day or night for problem dry skin areas. It is perfect as a moisturiser, which is what I have predominantly been using this as.
The packaging is simple, quite plain, but effective. A white background with green and black writing, it is inoffensive but still pretty enough to keep on your dressing table. All natural ingredients are listed on the label and the product has a screw-top lid which undoes easily to get to the product. The packaging isn’t perhaps the most elegant of designs but it does feel pretty sturdy, so if that you were like me and pretty accident prone, you could be pretty confident that it won’t break.
The cream is thick in consistency, although not gloopy – and like stated on the tub, it is fragrance free. However, it does seem to have a slightly medicated smell about it – I used to have eczema and the smell of this is reminiscent of the cream I used to have for that! It is not very noticeable though and would hardly offend anyone.
The product feels a little greasy when applied, however once it has been left to sink in, it leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth, with no hint of greasiness or oiliness whatsoever. I have been using this cream as a moisturiser instead of my usual product and I have to say it has done wonders for the tiny speckles of dry skin I occasionally get around the bottom of my nose!
The cream leaves skin looking smooth and radiant- no hint of dry skin in sight.
I will definitely be purchasing another tub when I’ve finished this one!
You can buy this cream on the Vita-E website or you can buy it from Boots for the price of £7.49.
Does this seem like your kind of product?

Book Q&A

I saw this post the other day on Rosie’s blog and I thought it’d be a fun thing to complete, especially as I am currently partaking in a reading challenge.
So here goes…
The Rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Post a photo of your favourite book cover
3. Answer the questions below
4. Tag a few people to answer them too
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you’ve tagged them
6. Make sure you tell the person who tagged you that you’ve taken part!

Not the most high-brow of books but as you can see from the state of this, it is a must-loved book – never got the Nectar points though as I picked this up in a charity shop, haha!

I tag any of you that wish to do this tag, but especially Etienne and Rachel.

What are you reading right now?
‘Hitlers Demons’ on the Kindle by Helena P Schrader. I’m not usually one for books based around the time of the World Wars but this is an interesting read. Expect a review when I’m finished.

Do you have any idea what you’ll read when you’re done with that?
I have plenty of books on my Kindle (free and paid for) plus I’ve got Catching Fire, Mockingjay, Woman In Black, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes…come on, you’ve seen the pile!

The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde

What magazines do you have in your bathroom/lounge right now?

A Bird In The House by Elizabeth Jennings

Where do you usually get your books?

I have a Kindle so Amazon plays a huge part in my collection. However, if I really want the paper copy of a book, I’ll buy it anywhere – Amazon, Play, Ebay, Waterstones, charity shops.

Where do you usually read your books?
On the sofa, in bed, in the bath, in the car.

When you were little, did you have any particular reading habits?
My Dad used to read to me every night – that’s about it.

What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Predictable, I know.

Have you ever “faked” reading a book?

Nope, not even if I hated it.

Have you ever bought a book just because you liked the cover?

Only The Goddess Guide by Gisele Scanlon – and what a find that was!

What was your favourite book when you were a child?
Any Roald Dahl or Enid Blyton – especially her stories about the magic, faraway tree.

What book changed your life?
The Harry Potter series. Although I loved reading anyway, J K Rowlings characters definitely cemented that for me.

Spending My Time; Watching The Days Go By

Not a very wordy post today, just spending some time with my little boy – he’s nearly 5 months old now and time is going by so quickly, so I am going to quickly check my emails, list some things on Ebay, then get back to having cuddles with him when he wakes up from his nap. Then it’s time for my tv night – Touch, Alcatraz and a film.

Meanwhile, I’ll leave you with this little picture that just melts my heart…

That Was The Week That Was: A Week In Pictures

I haven’t really been up to much this week – spent most of the time chilling out at home, doing housework and listing on Ebay (as well as occasionally buying…oops). In the past few weeks, I’ve featured on both Catt’s blog (go follow her, her blog is amazing and she deserves so many more followers – she’s a wonderful person!) and Rachael’s blog. These two girls have become really good friends of mine and you haven’t checked out their blog before – you really should!
What have you been up to this week? Here is my week in pictures….
1. The gorgeous Millionaire’s Shortbread that Steve made (recipe here)
2. Posing yet again
3. Chilling out with the new Company magazine
4. Testing out a new moisturising cream – review coming soon.
5. Mini book haul (not even half of the books I bought in the past fortnight!)
6. My fab finds in TK Maxx – Steve loves them!
7. Waving hello to everyone
8. The gorgeous dress seen in my latest OOTD post, originally from George but which I bought from Louise on Ebay.
9. The lovely little note she included. Can’t wait to meet this girl – she is amazing!
10. I swear if Jack sees a camera, he stops to pose!
11. Mini DVD haul from Ebay – I love 10 Things I Hate About You and although I don’t think Confessions Of A Shopaholic does any justice to the books, it’s still a feel-good film to have in my collection.
12. Giggling at something I did – no idea what though!
13. Just a small selection of my current book pile to read – also got plenty of ebooks on my Kindle to read too..eeek!
14. My friend Laura treated Jack to his first ever sunglasses – how cute?
15. My penpal letter from Justine – such a lovely letter! I’m really enjoying being penpals with a few of you – it’s nice to get to know you a little better and also use good old-fashioned pen and paper.
16. My win from Sharwoods. Yummy!
What have you got planned for the week ahead? I’m taking loads of parcels to the Post Office, taking Jack to get weighed and see the Health Visitor and pick up my World Book Night books from the library tomorrow. Then I’ve got nothing planned until Saturday when my niece gets married! I’m so excited, but I’m having to invest in a waterproof mascara just in case the waterworks come and I can’t stop them.
By the way, I’ve got 25 copies of The Secret Dreamworld Of A Shopaholic to give away for free for World Book Night. I know they won’t get to you in time for World Book Night but I’d like to offer ten copies to my readers, so if you’re interested, the first 10 people to comment with their email address each get one. I’ll cover postage and packaging costs, don’t worry. All I ask is that you are following me via GFC (now closed – picking some Twitter followers too!)
Have a great week!
