August TBR | Finishing Series

I mentioned in my Summer Reading Plans post that I had specific themes for my reading up until September. June was Kindle book month and I managed to get my Kindle TBR down extensively (I also sat there and deleted A LOT of eBooks that I had downloaded when they were free but no longer had any interest in). July was Agatha Christie month – keep an eye out for a post in early August to see how I did with that and what did I say August would be? Yes, the finishing series month.

I am awful for not finishing series. Obviously the Harry Potter series is one I’ve completed, the Soul Beach series by Kate Harrison is another, The Princess Diaries…. But the books I’ve read over the past couple of years and got really into – well, I still need to finish all of the series off. Oops. I’ve even missed one out of my TBR for this month and just realised – if I finish all of these books, I may add it in as well.

So what books do I plan to read this month?

First of all, I need to finish off the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I’ve read Divergent and started Insurgent but stopped as I went into a reading slump. I plan to read that and Allegiant first of all and then might treat myself to Four at the end of the month if I manage all of these books! I know Allegiant isn’t really liked but I’m trying not to go in with any preconceptions if I can.

Next I would like to read Elegy by Amanda Hocking. I’ve read and loved the Watersong series ever since I was a guest book reviewer on another site and reviewed for them but yet I still haven’t got round to reading this last book in the series. Hopefully this month.

I’m cheating a little here as I haven’t actually started the series (and I’m aware they’re the wrong way round in the picture) but since the second film is coming out soon, I want to get them read – The Maze Runner series by James Dashner.

Next is a very well known series – the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Seriously, that woman is a machine. I’ve not long bought Heir of Fire and the next book is due out soon! I’ve read ToG and started Crown of Midnight before hitting a slump so I want to get Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire plus the Assassin’s Blade novellas read before the new book comes out.

Finally, Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic to the Stars. I haven’t heard great things about this book but I’ve always been a big fan of the Shopaholic series after getting into it after reading her fab book Can You Keep A Secret? I really do hope I’m not disappointed.

I’m sure I’ve probably got a ton of other series I need to finish off and I am sure I will add them to the TBR if I manage to get through all of these.

I’m actually going to take part in the Booktubeathon between August 3rd-August 9th so I hope to get some of these read during that time. I wasn’t planning on taking part in the challenges but since I might manage a couple of them, why not? Should I also film a video of my Booktubeathon TBR? Let me know!

What’s on your August TBR pile?

  1. I have such a HUGE pile of TBR books, I can’t even begin to think about it because it makes me feel a little giddy haha… Next on my list is the Maze Runner series

  2. Wow look at all those books – you must have a lot of time for reading. I miss reading – I rarely get a moment these days to just sit down and enjoy a book, so I’ve nothing planned for August.

  3. The same as my July TBR pile! I started re-watching all 8 series of “House” and let’s just say until I’m done there won’t be much reading. Then I will tackle my (ever increasing) TBR pile!

  4. I used to read a lot but have no time to nowadays. This looks like a big pile of books that would take me a couple of years to get through. Reading is so relaxing. I hope you enjoy all of these.

  5. I am reading the Divergent Series right now, it is fantastic. I would like to do Maze Runner as well. I have been so bad with my reading lately, hardly reading anything, my concentration has been awful.

    Yes, to film!

  6. I have lots to read in August after stocking up on 99p Kindle sale books. I’m just finishing Life After Life by Kate Atkinson and then I think I’ll be onto Neil Gaiman. I always have such a huge stack of books by the bed and on the Kindle, never seem to reach the bottom.

  7. I bought a fair few books recently and I am acutally halfway through rereading a series I stopped halfway though last year- I am about to reach the point I got to last time – I hope I can read the rest of the series as I can’t remember why I stopped!

  8. I have a lot of books in my virtual reading pile too. I try to read as much as I can during the day but it is not easy, with an active little girl around! I wish I could hide somewhere for a week and do all my wish list reading, lol!xx
