Choosing Home Decor From UncommonGoods

Collaboration

We’ve been talking a lot recently about moving out and finding somewhere new to live. Where we live is far too small for our needs and our requirements and is getting us down – we need something bigger and something better for our children. We’ve decided that when we do move, we’ll only take the sentimental stuff and the essentials – the needed furniture, the technology etc. Home decor and trinkets? We’ll be buying new – buying to fit our new house and see what suits it. We’re also looking for a nice garden for the children to play in so we will be needing plenty of decor for the garden to make our garden perfect for us.

I’m a big fan of trinkets and items around the home – things that mean something to us – so the decorative accent gift ideas on this page would be perfect to make our house that little bit more homely.

UncommonGoods is a brand that we’ve been checking out for home decor ideas recently. It was founded in 1999 in Brooklyn, New York and they endeavour to feature unique jewelry, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts.  They run everything out of the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal, where the lowest-paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage. They aim to support and provide a platform for artists and designers; half of what they sell is hand made.

We’ve also recently bought a new sofa so have been looking for some cute decorative pillows, throws and blankets (find them here) for use on them – my friend loves a decent throw cushion for a sofa and I agree that our new sofa would look great with a few new pieces. The camera pillows above would look perfect on my sofa – or even my bed, wouldn’t you think?

I’m a big fan of companies who strive to not only do good business but also help others. UncommonGoods donate $1 from every purchase made to the non profit of your choice. The Better To Give program was started 12 years ago and in that time they have donated over $1 million! They have a range of non profits they choose to donate to also – RAINN, American Forests, International Rescue Committee and Reach Out & Read too! I’ll definitely be considering them for my home decor when we move – after all, I’ll be starting from scratch and need some good quality goods to fill my house.

What type of decor do you like in your house?
