Where are the best New Year’s Eve Displays in the UK?

December brings Christmas, a very special and magical period, though it also brings the end of 2017, with the start of a new year dawning upon us. With that in mind, it’s time to plan your New Year’s countdown to make it as special as it can be. To avoid attending a disappointing display, we’ve teamed up with Stagecoach, who offer unbeatable bus prices, to find out what displays you should be heading to, to celebrate the countdown to 2018.

Why not head to the capital of the UK to spend the countdown, join the thousands on the Thames this New Year. The capital is one of the most iconic locations for New Year’s Eve celebrations in the country.

Big Ben’s iconic ‘bongs’ will count us into the first day of the year before the display begins. The fireworks usually last around 12 minutes and are always mesmerising! The fireworks will be accompanied by exhilarating music that will get the crowds jumping and show a true sense of love and friendship.

Tickets are priced at £10 per person and can be bought in groups of four. A second batch of tickets will be released soon, so keep an eye out on the official website.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay festival is one that caters to all, which is especially helpful for those families with smaller children, whether you’re ringing in the new year with the family or with your other half. This NYE festival is unlike no other, with many different activities taking place on the day.

Don’t want your little one to miss out on the celebrations but midnight is way past their bedtime? Don’t worry – midday is the new midnight! At 1:00pm on the 31st December 2017, the festival has its own Baby Love Disco, which allows your little ones to let loose on the dancefloor whilst day-clubbing to some of their favourite songs! You might be questioning: ‘why? the whole point of a NYE party is to countdown in the new year’. Well, they will be — for Queensland!

If your little one can party a little bit longer, attend ‘Bairns Afore’ which is an entirely new event to the festival itself. The stage will be based at the bottom of Edinburgh castle, which will host family-friendly entertainment and even fireworks before it’s time to put your children to bed.

For those who are plan on staying up a little bit later, there is an outdoor concert where Rag’n’Bone Man will be headlining. Other performers include Ceclan McKenna and Nina Nesbitt!

More about what’s happening at the Edinburgh Hogmanay festival can be found on their official website. Tickets vary in price — grab them before they sell out!

Give Dating A Go This Christmas!

Are you looking for love this Christmas? Have you considered giving online dating a go? So many more people will be looking for love at this time of year as they hate the prospect of being single over the Christmas period.

If you’re a more mature person, perhaps consider a senior dating site to find love or companionship from someone close to your age. If you live on the coast, perhaps Norfolk dating for the more mature person is your cup of tea.

Senior dating can be a lot of fun if you give it a chance. There are just as many older men and women out there looking for love as there are younger people, perhaps even more. If you are an older man or woman living in Yorkshire, perhaps Yorkshire dating would be worth a try or perhaps if you are from Berkshire, Berkshire singles are what you are looking for.

Christmas dating is all the rage and there are plenty of people out there just waiting to hear from you so why wouldn’t you want to give online dating a try? You can meet so many like minded people who share your interests and hobbies and are looking for someone to experience them with. It is horrible to feel lonely at Christmas time so surround yourself with friends and get out socialising. Meet new people, have fun and potentially maybe even meet the one. You won’t know until you give it a try, will you?

You won’t know until you try – so why wouldn’t you? Get dating this festive season and see what it brings – perhaps the New Year spells a whole new start for you and some new significant other? Have a very merry Christmas and here’s hoping you get all that you want this year!

Our Experiences with the Heritage Range From Nisa

We were sent some items from the Nisa Heritage range to try for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I live in a little village which only has a few shops, one which includes our local Nisa store. I visit this store very often so when asked if I would like to become a Nisa Heritage ambassador, I was very happy.

The Heritage range is exclusive to Nisa and has a variety of products in the range that you can try. We were sent a couple of their pizzas and some bottles of wine from the range to try and see what we thought of them.

We were sent a stone baked three cheese pizza and their spicy chicken pizza (£3.29 each or 2 for £5) plus a bottle of their white wine and a bottle of their red wine (£4.99 each but down to £3.99 until the end of December) for a quiet night in together. Steve and I don’t often get a chance to eat dinner and have a drink and relax just us so it was nice to put the kids to bed and settle down to watch some TV together, just the two of us.

We are big fans of pizza so a pizza needs to be really good to impress us. All too often, store bought pizzas seem to be missing that special something that you just can’t quite put your finger on. We decided to cook both pizzas and enjoy them together with a glass of white wine. They cooked well and evenly. The three cheese pizza had an even spread of cheese (this doesn’t always happen with store bought pizzas) and was very tasty. The spicy chicken pizza was a surprise. I don’t handle spice too well so was a bit dubious about trying it but it was the perfect level of spice for me. Steve is a bit of a spice fiend though so it could have perhaps done with being a bit spicier for him! It was packed full of flavour and very tasty.

The wine was also a revelation. Wine is an occasional treat and we usually opt for a higher priced bottle. However we do enjoy the odd bottle of cheaper wine and we were very impressed with the white and red wine available from the Heritage range. I don’t drink red wine so I let Steve do the taste testing as he really likes it and he was very impressed with it. It is good quality and affordable too. White wine is one of my favourite alcoholic drinks and the Nisa Heritage white slipped down very easily, it didn’t take too long to finish off the bottle with some help from Steve.

All in all, we have been extremely pleased and impressed with the items we have tried from the Heritage range so far and will definitely be popping down to our local store to pick them up again. Pizza is one of our family treat meals so I can’t wait to see what Jack thinks of the three cheese pizza.

Have you ever tried anything from the Heritage range?

Awesome Little Green Men | Review

Awesome Little Green Men

We were sent some Awesome Little Green Men for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Jack had seen the Awesome Little Green Men sets around quite a lot before we were sent some for review and had always said he was keen to get some. We were going to put them in the birthday or Christmas present list but after being offered the chance to review some, we couldn’t say no.

A brand new collectible has arrived in the UK, these have already proved popular. The men may be small but their characters are larger than life and serious about the mission ahead. This fresh take on little green army men raises the bar by infusing battle and game play with 100 unique characters to collect in Series 1, including four super rare figures in the green army and the blue army. They all have their own expression and you can collect figures such as Sgt. Juliett and Major Zoomie, each figure with different stats. Can you build the strongest troops to win the battle?

Awesome Little Green MenWe were sent two packs from series 1 – one with some green men and in some with some blue men which made Jack giggle because of the name. We had a slip of paper with the new recruits but if you lose that, you can easily find them on the website.

Awesome Little Green Men Awesome Little Green MenJack had great fun working out which recruits he had and setting them up in battle against each other – sometimes he pitted greens against blues, other times he mixed the colours up to change it up a little.Awesome Little Green MenAs with all soldiers, each soldier came with their own dog tag which gave some information about them. When we looked up the figures we had, we had mostly common ones but also had a couple of rare ones which was great and really excited Jack. It is very rare in collectible series to get a rare one on your first purchase, let alone two so Jack was very impressed.

Awesome Little Green MenThe Awesome Little Green Men provided Jack with hours of fun and he can’t wait to have his friends round to play battles with him. I love the fact that they are a little bit more fun than the usual green army men you can get and the collectible element makes it even more exciting – although it does mean another collection that Jack wants to complete! We will definitely be picking up some more – these are available to buy from Smyths at £3.99 for a blind bag and £10.39 for an assorted starter pack from Amazon {affiliate link} and £24.99 for a deluxe battle pack from Amazon {affiliate link}.

Will you be buying your child some for Christmas?

8 Things You Must Have In Your Home First Aid Kit

Every home should have a first-aid kit because it’s one of those things which one can never know when they will need. While getting a readymade first-aid kit is a good start, it’s a better idea to build your own box by putting together the most essential and useful things you might need in an emergency situation. While trying to build that first-aid box of your own, make sure that it contains the following ten essential items in it.

Water-Resistant Containers

This is the place where everything will be stored so it needs to be water—resistant and large enough to hold all the supplies. If you have multiple boxes and pill bottles, get a first-aid bag to keep them all together.

Emergency Numbers and Medical Prescription

Necessary prescriptions, medical history and emergency numbers should be in that box as well, even if you remember the details.

Antiseptics, Creams and Ointments

The likes of petroleum jelly, aloe vera gel, pain relief ointments, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial handwash, anti-itch creams, etc. are a must in any first-aid box.

Over-the-Counter Meds and Pain Relievers

Antihistamines, antacids, aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen are all essential drugs that everyone should have at home to treat allergic reactions, flu symptoms, gastrointestinal disorders, headaches, etc.

Prescription Meds

Ask your doctor to help you build a small emergency supply for the essential meds which you need but cannot get on your own from the pharmacy. It should help you in a situation where you have run out of the necessary medication after forgetting to restock in time.

Band-Aids are a must in any first-aid box, but gauze in different sizes and shapes is also necessary to cater to injuries of different kind. Once the gauze has been put on the injury after applying the necessary ointments, you will need medical tape to keep the gauze in place.

Broken bones, sprained joints and ligaments require support and that’s why you need aluminum splints, crepe bandages and athletic tape in there. It’s better to consult a doctor in such cases, but until you can, these should help you to manage the situation.

Tools of the Trade

You may think you have everything you need, but it would be hard to deal with the situation without the right medical tools to help you. Check out the following list and make sure they are included.

  • Thermometer
  • Scissors
  • Cotton balls
  • Safety pins
  • Latex gloves
  • Tweezers

This list includes more than just eight items in total so things can get a bit confusing. Thankfully, MFASCO has all of these items on sale individually, as well as complete, ready-to-use first-aid boxes of different sizes, all at one place and ready to be home delivered. There’s one last thing which people often forget to do and that’s making a note of the expiry date. Most medicinal products come with an expiry date and past that date, the products become much less effective or even toxic in some rare cases. Therefore, it is important that you write down all the expiry dates and replace the first-aid kit supplies as needed.
