April Goals

This month I have to update you on two months as I completely failed to get a goals post up last month – oops! So here is my recap of my February goals (let’s see if I managed them through March too!) and my April goals.

RECAP

BLOGGING GOALS

  • Write at least two guest posts – This was a total fail for both February and March. Oops
  • Get scheduled two weeks in advance (apart from time sensitive content) – This totally didn’t happen.

FREELANCING GOALS

  • Update my work website more regularly – This (sort of) happened. I added a blog post or two, updated my theme, updated my pages and even got an approach from it.
  • Search out some more long term clients – Yes! This happened.

PERSONAL GOALS

  • Enter at least three writing competitions – Nope. Nope. Nope. Don’t ask.
  • Read at least 15 books – For the month, no. For two months, no. Since 1st of January, yes.
  • Check over my half finished NaNoWriMo draft from November and try and add some more each weekend – Nope, nada added.

FINANCIAL GOALS

  • Hustle for more work – Always.
  • Declutter some more – Started to do this, need to carry on.
  • Add at least £100 to my savings account – No, although I have paid off a lot of things!

HEALTH & FITNESS GOALS

  • Exercise more – and try to diversify my exercise routine more this month. – I haven’t really diversified but I have been carrying on with walking and exercise bike and did the 3 miles for Sport Relief.
  • Lose 0.5lb to 1lb a week at least. – I’ve managed this most weeks!
  • Walk even more – I am trying. I’m taking a little longer to go home after dropping Jack off or leaving the house a little earlier when going to pick Jack up in order to get more walking in.

Monthly Goals | February Goals

So this is a few days later than I planned to get this up but I needed to collate the info to see how I had done in January and what I want to do for my February goals.

So how did I do in January?

JAN

BLOGGING GOALS

  • Get at least 4 posts up on Keene On Saving this month – MAJOR FAIL. Think I may give up, I’ve lost the love for it.
  • Get non time sensitive content scheduled in advance – SEMI PASS. Managed it somewhat.
  • Write at least two guest posts for others – Nope, nope and nope again. Hope to change it this month!
  • Build up my Instagram following and interaction – YES! I managed it. I have seen my account grow loads in January

FREELANCING GOALS

  • Find at least one long term client – SEMI PASS. I found someone in January but didn’t start working with them for February.
  • Start planning for the ideas I have had – SEMI PASS. Started this off but still need to spend more time on it.
  • Update my work website regularly and promote it more – SEMI PASS. I have been promoting it more but haven’t been updating it as much as I should, whoops.

PERSONAL GOALS

  • Enter at least five writing competitions. I’ve already entered two this year (yes, two were entered on the 1st of January) so that leaves another three. I am going to enter one that is free of restrictions then two (or more, if I feel like it!) that have a specific theme. I will use this fantastic website to find them. – FAIL. I managed two but I did manage to participate in Prose For Thought quite a bit.
  • Read at least 11 books this month. I have already read two but since I have now set my 2016 reading challenge, I now know how many I need to keep on track to reach my overall goal. –  YES! I managed 14, yay!

FINANCIAL GOALS

  • Get decluttering and donate/sell what I can – SEMI PASS. Managed to get rid of a lot of stuff in January but still got more to go.
  • Hustle for more work to help me achieve my overall financial goals – PASS. I spent a lot of January working out where my strengths lie.
  • Keep adding small amounts to my savings account – FAIL. Had to take some out but I did end the month by putting a cheque in there.

HEALTH & FITNESS GOALS

  • Lose 0.5lb to 1lb a week – I want to lose 1lb this week to hit my half stone but also feel this is an achievable and realistic weight loss goal for the month – FAIL. I had a bit of a weird month, what with my birthday and everything.
  • Walk more – I will be getting more walking in once Jack gets back to school but rather than going straight home (unless I absolutely have to), I am planning on going for a long walk two to three times a week before picking him up. – PASS. Been walking everywhere and plan on doing more this month!
  • Get exercising – It doesn’t matter how but I aim to get some exercise (that isn’t walking) in somewhere – PASS! I have been using the exercise bike and have plans to diversify my fitness routine this month.

My Goals For 2016

Every year I set myself goals for the year ahead and with last year being no different, I thought it would be nice to once again share my goals for the year – so read on for my goals for 2016.

Last year I wrote some blogging goals and some health & fitness goals. This year I want to set some blogging goals, freelancing goals, personal goals, financial goals and health goals. I’m not doing things by half this time around!

goals for 2016

BLOGGING GOALS

  • To find a better balance – get content that isn’t time sensitive scheduled in advance. I no longer want to be writing things up just before publishing them unless it is extremely time sensitive content.
  • Get back to publishing on Keene On Saving –  It has taken a back seat over the last few months and I am sad about that, want to bring it back up again.
  • Get guest posting again – No idea where I will fit this in but I will, somehow.
  • Keep being confident and saying no if I don’t think something is right for me.
  • Utilise different aspects of the blog more – I am currently focusing on Instagram but I want to try out different methods on different things over the whole year.

FREELANCING GOALS

  • Get a couple of long term clients – Most of my work is short term, one off things. I do have a few clients who always come back to me though.
  • Build up my work website – post on it more, make sure everything is being updated as and when needed and promote it more.
  • Get cracking on a few different ideas – I am bursting with ideas so need to get them down and get started on them.
  • Become a staff writer for another blog – It is something I have always wanted to do since finding out some bloggers have staff writers so this is one of my aims for 2016.

PERSONAL GOALS

  • Enter more writing competitions in 2016 – I entered one right at the tail end of 2015 and am entering one today but I want to make this a regular occurrence in 2016.
  • Complete my Goodreads reading challenge.

FINANCIAL GOALS

  • Get as close to debt free as possible, even debt free if I can – This is my big one but obviously needs help from others.
  • Double my income from 2015 – I am going to sit down and work out the figures for the whole year and then try to double that in 2016. I will aim to do this by picking up more jobs, being more proactive.
  • Get my savings account healthy – I had some money saved but had to use it when the car failed its MOT. Hopefully I can add to it again. I’ve already decided to use any small income (i.e cashouts from Qmee or Fiverr) to boost my savings account.
  • Declutter and sell/donate what I can. Any money from items I sell will go into my savings.

HEALTH & FITNESS GOALS

  • Lose two stone – I can’t remember if this is the figure I gave at Slimming World when I started but I’ve lost almost half a stone and would like to lose another two stone *for now*. If I lose more, I will be even happier.
  • Exercise more – Walk more than I am doing now, use our exercise bike more. I’m also planning on getting an exercise DVD or two and even attending one of the local exercise sessions.
  • Feel healthier and happier in my skin in general – Eating cleaner and just generally taking care of myself – perhaps consider seeing a private psychologist London.

So these are my goals for 2016  – what goals do you have?
